Beach Please!

Growing up in New Jersey, I really only ever new the “jersey shore” and obviously thought it was the best beach ever! I loved laying in the sun all day and walking up and down the boardwalk all night. Well, no offense to my NJ friends, but not all beaches are created equal…living in southwest Florida has taught me what a “real” beach is like. White sand, turquoise waters, and let’s not forget the dolphins and manatees that like to visit the shoreline!

There are so many great options and when trying to find a good fit, there is something for everyone. Check out some of my favorite Florida beaches…

South Seas Island Resort- Sanibel/Captiva

Sanibel Island is possibly my favorite destination to escape the rest of the world. Sanibel is an island where practically everything is locally owned. You won't find any of the usual chain restaurants or resorts out on the island. And a bit further down the road is Captiva. Both Sanibel and Captiva have breathtaking views and even better sunsets! I love all of the little mom and pop shops and restaurants that give you a glipse into the culture of the island.

RumFish Beach Resort by Tradewinds- St. Pete Beach

St. Pete Beach is the perfect combination of city life and beach life. Relax with a tropical drink on the beach during the day and head out to dinner and dancing at night. St. Pete is also close to the larger city of Tampa where there are a lot of activities and attractions like the Tampa Aquarium and the Tampa Zoo,.

Hilton Sandestin Beach, Destin, FL

Whether you are a beach bum or like an early tee time, Sandestin Beach has what you’re looking for. With 7 miles of white sand beaches and 4 championship golf courses (among other amenities), there is something for everyone to enjoy! If you are looking for something exciting to do at night, Sandestin is also home to many festivals throughout the year. If you are looking for something unique to do, check out the Underwater Art Museum!

Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort

Marco Island is the perfect blend of family fun and relaxing quiet.  There is truly something for everyone.  During the day we love to lounge on a chair and build sandcastles in the sun, and at night we like to visit Sweet Annie's Ice Cream shop for a tasty treat.

Marco Island is located in southwest Florida south of Naples.  Many of the resorts have water sports (some included and some are added costs depending on the resort).  There is also AMAZING opportunities to collect some beautiful sea shells if you are willing to wake up a little early and take a walk town to Tigertail Beach.

Margaritaville Beach House- Key West

If you are looking for more of a fun filled adult vibe- Key West would be my suggestion. There is always something going on at Irish Kevin's or stop by Sloppy Joes for good meal. Looking for the best frozen drinks? Check out Fat Tuesday (don't forget to add the extra shot on top!) If you aren't into the drinking scene you can head out on a snorkel/kayak tour or hop on and off the trolley at popular tourist destinations.
