Watch out for those SNEAKY expenses!!
Your vacation is booked and your excursions/activities are all planned…all that's left is getting there. But is that really true?? Sometimes when you think you’ve thought of everything, things sneak up on you. Here are 5 sneaky expenses you probably haven’t considered as part of your vacation fund…
Hair refresh!
If you are anything like me, you refuse to go on vacay without your highlights perfected and your cut fresh and new. Now, unless you dye your hair yourself and work miracles with scissors, that is adding at least $100 to your vacation total.
2. Trip to the Nail Salon
Mani, Pedi, can’t go to the beach without cute toes! Heading to the nail salon to pick the perfect color and enjoying an hour or so of relaxing and being pampered…add another $50-$100 depending on the services you request.
3. New Clothes
Anyone say shopping! Gotta get some new clothes for those dinner pics that you’ll be taking with your significant other or even your family. 4 or 5 new outfits… add another $100 or so to your total,
4. Who’s going to watch the kids?
If you are going on a couples vacay and have kids at home, add a babysitter to your budget. Sometimes we are lucky enough to have grandparents or friends to watch our kids but if not, a babysitter can be the highest unexpected cost of all. We have 3 girls which usually costs us about $100 a day when we are gone (more if they aren't in school)
5. Do you need to park?
Lastly, factor in parking. If you are flying out then you will need to pay to park at the airport, if you are cruising, you will need to pay to park at the port, or even if you are just driving to the resort, you will most likely have a parking fee (most resorts have started to implement a daily parking fee)
So, how many of you thought about these little add ons? I know I usually don’t! But before we left for our cruise last week, I started thinking about the “other” things that are always included in our vacations…Just thought I’d share what we came up with. Any others you can think of?
